MACC vs MACC - THE VOICE OF PATRIOT
All of a sudden, the whole country has exploded into the core topic of CORRUPTION.
The whole atmosphere is focused on this particular aspect which should rightly be so. Ideas, views, condemnations, suggestions, uproars and everything else is thrown into this because it involves the pinnacle of Justice and the Rule of Law. Azam Baki is implicated in the very Principle that he had been entrusted to uphold.
PATRIOT welcomes and supports the statement by SUHAKAM that there has to be nothing short of a ROYAL COMMISSION OF INQUIRY INTO THE OBJECTIVES, ORIENTATION AND THE OPERATIONS OF THE MALAYSIAN ANTICORRUPTION COMMISSION. The MACC has largely played a positive role in bringing about a better awareness of the issue of abuse of office, corruption as well as in initiating action on numerous corruption cases. It is however troubling that a respected foreign news and data portal has cast aspersions on certain unseemly aspects of the MACC’s work. There is a need to restore public trust on the work of the MACC and its institutional integrity as an independent, impartial and impeccable public body. A Royal Commission of Inquiry headed by a recently retired chief justice of the nation would help to considerably ease our deep concerns on this matter. We trust the government will act in the best interest of the nation.
In this particular case PATRIOT does not only hope but demands that proper investigation will be administered by the government of the day into this high-profile scandal to ensure that JUSTICE is seen to have been done and deliberated in Complete Transparency. There must never be even an iota of doubt that MACC itself is NOT CLEAN. PATRIOT strongly feels that cleaning this matter up now is of utmost importance at MACC before MACC is given the complete trust and an OPEN CHEQUE to prosecute others.
